ULUDAG
Uludag is the symbol of Bursa. It is located in the south east part, 34 Km far from Bursa. Uludag's height is 2545m. It is a wonderful and dreamlike place for holiday both in the summer and in the winter and the most suitable resort for winter sports. Near the summit of the mountain, there are luxurious hotels and skiing centers. Such accommodations make Uludag a paradise for winter tourism.Its snow covers slopes through 4.5 months a year and the thickness reachs 3.95m. Its snow quality is very ideal for skiingUludag is the most important center for winter sports located in Western Anatolia. Skiing season starts at December - January months and it keeps go on until end of march or april.
Being a mythological place (in ancient times it was named as Olympus. Where the legendary gods were believed to live and observe those having a faith in them), 11.388 hectars of Uludag were designated a national park in 1961 in order to preserve its peculiar nature, to meet demands of local people for recreation and to carry out some scientific research in the region.
To get Uludag from Bursa, you can either follow the higway of 34 Km. by private car, taxis, or take the cable car (teleferik) with 40 people capacity; to get Bursa from Istanbul Airport or from Istanbul: Bursa is 260 Kms. to Istanbul and the road takes 3-hours by bus. One can get bus from the Bus Terminal in Istanbul.
